Burrito's Battle Blog: Lin Chung Vs Skunk (Hero: 108 Vs Skunk Fu!)

Lin Chung, Hero 006 and Leader of First Squad!

Skunk, The Destined Hero of The Valley!

Two main characters from shows you probably don’t remember or haven’t thought about since they aired. One probably more than the other. How will these lesser known protags do when compared against each other? Will Lin Chung take down this Mephitidae? Or will Skunk open up a can of Skunk Fu on Lin Chung? Let’s see who wins a Burrito’s Battle Blog!

Before We Begin…

This is straightforward, for Lin Chung, we will be focusing completely on the show Hero: 108, which only has 2 seasons. There is external media such as flash games, however these do not add much, so we elected to not focus on them to keep the blog simple and clean.

For Skunk, pretty much the exact same thing, we will be sticking to just the show, which only had one season, so nothing crazy. Same thing, there’s a few flash games, but won't be focused on, as all focus will be put onto the primary material.

Connections

To be blunt, the main thing going for this is vibes, but we can still pull together a list of connections that makes this fight work at least. Don’t expect the most fleshed out connections in the world as I was never good at writing them.

  • Protagonist from shows that aired on the same program that take place in an Asian inspired setting
  • Both participate in defending their valley from the opposition in a long lasting war (High Roller’s War and The War against the Dragon Army)
  • With the plot of Hero: 108 involving Lin Chung and First Squad fighting what is essentially “an animal of the week”, Lin Chung Vs a Skunk thematically already works.
    • Smaller Note: Skunks have appeared in Hero: 108, but Lin Chung never directly fought them
  • A Leader Vs A Student Matchup (Lin Chung being the leader of First Squad Vs Skunk being Panda’s Student)

Background

Lin Chung

Many years ago, animals and humans lived together in joyful harmony. But then, a wicked trickster called High Roller fooled the animals into thinking humans were their enemies. Chaos reigned until an army of heroes came together to protect the humans and end the war! Today we will be talking about Hero number 006, otherwise known as Lin Chung

Lin Chung is the “cool, silent” type of Big Green, as in, he focuses all of his efforts into training, meditating, and being the defining example of First Squad. While he may seem distant due to this, his care for his friends at First Squad is massive. If they are ever in trouble, you know that Lin Chung will drop everything in order to save them.

He also has great passion for art and drawing. At first, he isn’t that great at it, but aren’t we all when we first start out? He massively improves his art throughout the show, which is important when he has a power that essentially relies on his creativity, Harmonic Energy.

Trained under Master Tien Khuan, he would be taught to harness his Harmonic Energy, which was always inside of him. This ability would be a major assist in the war and creating peace with the Animals and defeating chaos. As he puts it, he will always be there to defend Peace and Harmony, so swears Lin Chung, First Squad, and Hero: 108!

Skunk

Welcome to the Valley, once protected by Dragon! However, with that responsibility, he would become arrogant. This led to him being punished by the Heavens, being banished inside an icy mountain. He would blame the Valley and Panda, his once closest friend, and would seek revenge and a way out. Panda would pray to Heaven, asking for insight on how to restore the balance, only for there and then to be delivered a baby. He would take this baby and raise it under the assumption that the Baby was the gift from Heaven itself, being the key to restore balance and defeat Dragon. The baby? It was of course none other than Skunk!

Now being trained by Panda, Skunk would have to learn various moves and skills, he would be taught Kung Fu, the art of skill achieved through hard work and time, and was Panda skilled at this. He would truly test Skunk’s patience and endurance, making him meditate for hours, and hone his skills for hours! While Skunk would obviously object to a lot of Panda’s teaching, still being a kid and all, he would usually learn that there’s merit in his old fashioned way of teaching.

Of course, there’s times where he lets his childish side loose, such as when he decides to run in fist first towards enemy territory, all because he wants to do something exciting, but with Panda’s teachings in his mind, he would realize that there’s more to winning fights than just his fists, he would learn the art of Patience, Endurance, Kung Fu, and much, much more. Oh, and a bunch of cool rocking Kung Fu moves of course! So, whenever the situation calls for it, you know Skunk will be ready to hit his enemies with some serious Skunk Fu!

Experience and Skill

Lin Chung

Lin Chung without a doubt is the greatest warrior in Big Green, eventually being granted the title of leader of First Squad. He’s an exceptional sniper, being recognized as the Most Skilled Sniper in all of Big Green. Even when he’s heavily injured, he’s still quick and agile, being able to fight against threats. He’s quick to adapt to situations, and as a bonus, he has access to a great power called Harmonic Energy, which can nearly do anything.

Skunk

Ever since his birth, Skunk was destined to restore balance back to the valley after Dragon became evil. Panda would care for Skunk and train him under the Art of Kung Fu. This technically means Skunk has been training since birth, even if he’s still young, that’s still 10 full years of experience. Even better, Panda has been around the valley for a long time, being about 80 years old, so there’s a lot for him to teach Skunk. This is showcased in nearly every episode with Panda teaching Skunk some new art form. Not only that, but throughout the entire valley, Panda considers Skunk as his best student!

Equipment

Lin Chung

Note: There are several one-off pieces of equipment, mainly inventions from Woo The Wise, however given that these are rarely carried on Lin Chung’s person and only obtained after leaving the battlefield, I have elected to leave these out.

Bamboo Sniper

Lin Chung’s Signature weapon, by using grown Bamboo Shoots as his ammo, he can shoot them out of his staff with extreme precision, granting him the title of the most skilled sniper in Big Green. He’s even skilled enough to make impressive shots while blindfolded. Due to its staff shape, Lin Chung can also use his weapon like a spear.

Turtles

Big Green’s main form of transportations, which might seem odd since they are turtles. However, these turtles are loaded up with tank treads, allowing them to travel at high speeds. These treads can even be used to turn people into kites. If a turtle were to ever cry, their tears would summon the entire turtle army to fire at whoever made them weep, the assault being led by the Turtle King.

Cheetah Legs

When the Cheetah King and Queen combine with Lin Chung, they become his legs! This grants him a great boost in speed, allowing him to easily dodge incoming laser beams. With Lin Chung using the Cheetah Legs 5 times throughout the series, as well as having the ability to call upon the Cheetah King and Queen, even when they are far away, allows for them to be included as standard equipment.

Skunk

Fans

Equipped with Fans, Skunk would learn Fan Fan, the art of Fan Fighting. These might seem like ordinary fans, which is because they are, but with them Skunk was able to learn some cool moves

Flying Octopus Arm

It’s really just a plunger attached to a long rope, but with this Skunk was able to accidentally discover a new style which he calls the Dizzy Master, which will be elaborated in its own section. As for the Flying Octopus Arm itself, it can spin himself like a top, knocking those around him away. It can also be used as a grappling hook, perfect for grabbing onto things or if he were to fall down a large mountain. Skunk did steal this from Rabbit, and it was gifted to Pig at the end of the episode, so it’s arguable if Skunk should actually have this. Regardless, Skunk can perform the Dizzy Master without it, so he has that going for him.

Abilities

Lin Chung

Panther Eye Vision

By holding his hands up to his eyes like binoculars, he can see great distances. Useful for finding openings to castles or to gather information from afar. He can also see things in slow motion with this ability, along with being able to see at a microscopic level or outright invisible beings.

Harmonic Energy

Taught by his Master Tien Khuan, Lin Chung would begin to master the use of Harmonic Energy. It’s classified as “Positive Energy”. With Harmonic Energy, Lin Chung can perform a large variety of techniques.

  • Constructs: Kind of like a Green Lantern Ring, Lin Chung can create purple constructs to aid him in battle, whether it be a tornado to reflect flames or bubbles to allow him to breathe underwater. He can likely create any construct he wants with this ability.
  • Power Amplification: Lin Chung can cover parts of his body with Harmonic Energy to grant him a boost in power
  • Illusions: To help train Lin Chung, Tien Khuan created illusions of several animals. It’s important to note that these illusions were fully physical and retained all attributes of whoever it was copying.
  • Attack Reflection: Consistently redirects attacks with Harmonic Energy
  • Shield Creation: Created a Shield to save the Stingray King. Created barriers around First Squad. His shields can even be several meters wide.
  • Energy Blast: Can create a blast of Harmonic Energy to propel nearby enemies. He can also shoot lasers.
  • Purification: Can remove Chaotic or Evil Energy out of people, such as Second Squad, Evil Alpacas, Commander ApeTrully,
  • Size Manipulation: Increased the size of a Diver Helmet. Undid Twin Master’s changes, by shrinking Ants back to their small size.
  • Fusion: Undid the Fusion of everyone under the effects of the Chi Gong Amulet, while also fusing High Roller with the Zebra Brothers.
  • Light Manipulation: Can project light
  • BFR: Teleported Komodo Dragons away from the fight.
  • Time Travel: Used Harmonic Energy to travel back to the present.
  • Power Bestowal: Accidentally provided Twin Masters with the power of “Harmonic Energy” 1000 years ago.

Skunk

Martial Arts Expertise

Being trained by his teacher Panda, Skunk is an expert in Kung Fu. While this includes the standard powerful strikes and kicks, while mastering the patience, endurance, mind, and effort required to perform Karate, he would also learn unique abilities in order to help aid him in fighting against Ninja Monkeys

The Divine Hand

A legendary move Skunk learned by spying on Panda while he was training. This move leaves enemies completely frozen, though according to Skunk, this only lasts about a minute.

Skunking

Skunk is, well, a skunk, and Skunks are best known for their foul smelling sprays. Just like real skunks, Skunk will release his spray whenever he feels threatened or frightened. This has some… “interesting” applications, such as…

At his peak, Skunk can spray enough to fill an entire canyon, with this knocking out everyone who was caught in the blast.

Cheeky Monkey

What was intended to be a made up ability by Panda to make Skunk shut up, turned out to be kinda real? Panda described it as the ability to project one's life force or Chi into an object, however when Skunk attempted to use it to rescue what he thought was a stone with Panda’s Chi in it, he was able to move a very small pebble a tiny amount. Though, don’t be expecting Skunk to be projecting his soul into stuff.

Night of Vision Technique

By clearing his head of all thoughts, and filling his head with his own inner light, Skunk can project actual light from his vision, allowing for users to see during the dark.

The Knuckle of Nakedness

The name is very literal, as anyone who gets hit by this punch will become naked! Or in Bird’s case, lose all of his feathers.

The Art of Attitude

With Rabbit's advice, Skunk learned the Art of Attitude. By pumping out his chest and unleashing his best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression, he can strike fear into anyone, though it’s all really a bluff. If his giant muscles aren’t enough, he can also crack his tail and tongue for extra fear… weird huh.

Lightning Claw Attack

By utilizing static electricity, Skunk can shoot out bolts of lightning. Though this does require fur to rub against in order to build the charge, thankfully he can use his own tail.

Dizzy Master

Either by using the Flying Octopus Arm or by spinning himself really fast, Skunk makes himself really dizzy. This grants him the advantage of making him really hard to hit, while in return, hitting his opponents with unexpected strikes. He can also reflect projectiles with this ability. This does come with the downside of making it harder for him to walk around normally, as he fell off a mountain due to climbing while dizzy.

Scaling

Lin Chung

Big Green

It’s really no secret that Lin Chung is at the top of the Big Green hierarchy. He’s always the one saving the day after all, and was eventually made the leader of First Squad. In addition, with Harmonic Energy, Lin Chung was able to fight against enemies that were giving the collective First Squad trouble, allowing for Lin Chung to scale and even massively upscale with the use of Harmonic Energy.

High Roller + Animals

Nearly every episode ends with Lin Chung and First Squad defeating High Roller and whichever Animal of the Week was aiding them. It’s the formula the show uses, which is how they gain new Animal allies for Big Green. As a result, it allows for fairly simple scaling.

Twin Masters

The Main Villain of Season 2. Originally a warrior named Prince Yang Tu, he wanted complete and utter control of Big Green. However, in a time loop incident, Lin Chung would accidentally allow him to become the Twin Masters, allowing him to master his Chaotic Energy. He’s a consistent top tier threat throughout his run, but was finally defeated at his strongest form thanks to the combined efforts of all 107 Heroes, creating Hero 108! While this was a team effort, this was also Twin Masters at his absolute strongest, plus Lin Chung has held his own against Base Twin Masters. With this in mind, we find it okay to scale Lin Chung to base Twin Masters, and downscale from his peak.

Skunk

Valley Army

The army formed by the various animals that live in the Valley, which is led by Panda, Skunk’s teacher. Together they fight the Dragon’s Army, encompassed by Ninja Monkeys, their general Baboon, and of course, Dragon. They all fight on equal footing, and with Skunk being trained by the leader as his pupil, Skunk would scale to all their feats. Oh, and for ease of convenience, Baboon will be included here as well.

Weaknesses

Lin Chung

Lin Chung, while the very clear favorite of the show, isn’t without faults. He… um, he’s uhh… well he’s…

Okay, so as it turns out, due to how much the show loves Lin Chung, making him basically the savior of every episode, coming up with all the plans, and being the best at everything, he doesn’t really have some major weakness or exploit that you would expect. As Mighty Ray put it, “everyone favors Lin Chung” Hell, they once just wrote him out of an episode by saying he was sick just to give the other members more screen time.

Well, there is one thing! He sucks at art! No, really, when the show was airing, the website made sure to let us know that he canonically sucks at drawing… Or at least he used to… Because throughout the show, he begins to practice and get better at drawing, so now he’s a great artist. Well, there goes that weakness I suppose, but at the very least, he’s shown that his artist passion will sometimes tunnel vision him. He’s stopped during missions in order to paint a tree, paint chameleons when his squad was literally being attacked, and the website even says “You could practically drop a bomb on him, and he wouldn’t notice as long as it didn’t knock the pencil out of his hand”.

There is one other thing. It involves his Harmonic Energy, as channeling this energy does seem to take a bit out of him and requires complete concentration to effectively use. He can run out of Harmonic Energy if pushed to his limit, though the exact limit is undefined. Regardless, if he were to ever run out of Harmonic Energy, upon recalling his Master’s teachings, he was able to restore his lost power.

Due to this, I’ve elected to take a bit of a different approach to this section. I will be listing every notable hax that has worked on Lin Chung, as at the end of the day, he isn’t invincible.

Skunk

Despite being talented at Kung Fu, he’s still a bit immature, but you can’t exactly blame him, as he’s still just a kid at the end of the day. While arguably a lot of each episode's problems could be traced back to Skunk, he tries his hardest to make up for it and learn from his mistakes. He’s also been affected by various forms of hax, which I will be listing here:

  • Petrification: Was going to be trapped in a crystal until Panda destroyed the source of the magic.
  • Luck Manipulation: Was affected by Jinx’s Palm, which grants whoever is touched by it bad luck.

Before The Verdict

Lin Chung

The Speed of Mighty Ray’s “Lightning”

Characters in Hero: 108 consistently dodge Mighty Ray’s Lightning, this would naturally get good numbers because of the fact that it’s, well, lightning. However, despite being called lightning, it actually shares more properties with light instead. With this in mind, let’s tackle a specific feat, the time Mighty Ray’s lightning outpaced actual light!

Lightning being faster than light? That can’t be right… Or can it? You see, despite what would seem like a blatant contradiction, it’s actually supported by the show itself. First off, Mighty Ray’s lightning is not regular lightning, but magical in nature, being gifted by the Stone Monkey Deity. Since they are magical in nature, we can assume that their properties will differ from the real thing.

As listed in the feats section, Crocodile King’s lasers are 100% lightspeed, and the show visually displays that his light and Mighty Ray’s lightning are meant to be fully comparable. The whole sequence of their showdown directly shows them moving at similar speeds, and there’s even an episode dedicated to their rivalry with a showdown comparing their two attacks, further supporting that the two are meant to be directly comparable.

There’s other supporting moments too, such as Mighty Ray using his eyes as a flashlight to see in the dark, or when he used them to create a lightshow for a fireworks contest. As a result, we will be accepting Mighty Ray’s lightning as lightspeed at minimum, with the potential of it moving faster than light based on tandem movement.

Immeasurable Train?

Okay, let’s address this. In the episode Pitched Battle of the Great Wall Train, the Tigers have a train that can accelerate through time. Does this mean Immeasurable Train? And does it mean First Squad can scale given Yaksha can grab the train mid-acceleration? This train does travel through time via speed… However there are a few problems with this.

First off, the train has a required speed in order to achieve time travel, being 10,000 miles per hour. This alone should be enough to discredit the idea of Immeasurable given that a threshold simply has to be met, rather than going way too fast you end up actually time traveling, implying that the train’s time travel mechanism isn’t solely based on speed. In addition, First Squad has direct speed feats that are way faster than the required 10,000 miles per hour, and yet they don’t travel through time each time they dodge a laser.

Next time, the train actually doesn’t physically travel through time, rather it accelerates time for those within the train, which is a massive distinction. When Lin Chung falls off the train, he doesn’t end up in the future, but instead he’s left as an old man. Since there’s no actual real time travel happening here, that’s another knock against the idea of Immeasurable. With that all in mind, we will not be accepting this as an Immeasurable feat.

Universal Twin Masters

Let’s rip the bandage off, he’s Not Universal. Let’s go over several points that combat the idea of end game Twin Masters being “Universal”

Let’s analyze the actual statement itself: “Behold the Chaotic Energy of the Universe, in all its glory!” Firstly, Energy of the Universe ≠ Universal AP. This is especially true when Chaotic Energy is the parallel opposite of Harmonic Energy, its opposite, meaning that at best, it would only be about half of what is being claimed. That being said, the idea of Chaotic Energy isn’t solely AP related, rather it is the idea of Disharmony itself, acting as a fuel, which Twin Masters can harness. Technically speaking, all the “Chaotic Energy” of the Universe could at best equal a nuke, since there is no direct Chaotic Energy to Joules ratio, nor do we have anything to quantify how much Chaotic Energy in the Universe there really is.

Next up, narratively this just doesn’t make sense. The focus of this entire episode has been the destruction of specifically “Hidden Kingdom” which is likely the whole world, but a far cry from Universal. Even after dropping this statement, he still name drops only the destruction of Hidden Kingdom. Heck, we can go a step further and note that when Twin Masters was defeated, the energy of the explosion he died in looked to be on the scale of a nuke (I guess all the Chaotic Energy of the Universe really was a nuke…). To be honest, with all the focus on specifically Hidden Kingdom’s destruction, as well as a lack of display showcasing a monumental amount of energy, the idea of Twin Master’s end form being Universal just does not hold up, not to mention you could also throw out the outlier word, but we feel these main points showcase the problem with the idea in the first place.

Verdict

Both Lin Chung and Skunk have some impressive showings on a lower end. Both can keep up with opponents who can cause fissures in the ground, both can keep up with those who can both survive having large rocks fall on them, as well as destroy them. Though it’s when we look at their higher end feats that things become a bit more clear cut. Skunk can scale to the rest of the Valley, who consistently sit around Multi-City Block, whether it be from Panda, who screamed so loud it was heard from space, or Ninja Monkey’s who survived a giant meteor falling on top of them, or even Dragon, who covered the entire Valley in Mist. Though Skunk’s best direct feat is that time Skunk’s Spray caused a massive explosion that covered the side of a mountain, landing around the Large Town Range. However, as early as Episode 2 of Hero: 108, Mighty Ray vaporized almost the entirety of a mountain, a feat around 82 Megatons of TNT, or City Level. Comparing the two values, Mighty Ray’s feat is 107 times more powerful!

Now, there are a few more dubious feats that could get Skunk higher, such as that time Baboon mysteriously controlled a Thunder Cloud. This feat, if taken literally, would get around 1.64 Megatons of TNT, however it’s questionable if this feat is even a feat. It’s never explained how Baboon was able to control this cloud, was performed in what is essentially an off screen battle, and we have no way to prove that this scales to physicals. That being said, Mighty Ray’s feat is still much higher, and Lin Chung has a direct Cloud feat that clears Baboon's out of the water. Lin Chung was able to instantly disperse a storm large enough to cover Hidden Kingdom, even using the lowest possible interpretation, 1.4 Gigatons, beats out Baboon’s storm by 853 times! There’s still a good number of feats that Lin Chung can scale to, such as the high end of the Soil Monster’s Re-Entry trip, or Twin Master speeding up a meteor to extinction level. Regardless, Lin Chung takes Strength by a massive margin.

There’s also that time Pig launched a massive pillar of mud into space. A one off gag feat, where no other feat comes close in terms of scale. In regards to gag feats, how I view them depends on the series, and Skunk Fu’s more comedic nature means it has grounds to be usable. However given that, not counting other debatable feats, the 2nd strongest feat in the series is only kilotons, it’s such a massive jump that it’s an easy outlier. Despite this, it still wouldn’t be enough! Twin Masters moved the moon in order to mind control Second Squad, and Twin Masters was able to fight High Roller when he was amped by a magical orb, when that same orb was able to move the moon. Both these feats when we look at their values still beat out Pig’s feat. This means that no matter what avenue we take, Lin Chung will always take Strength.

Now for Speed, which is much more straightforward. Skunk can dodge Lightning. Lin Chung can dodge Light. This is also ignoring that Mighty Ray’s Magical Lightning has outspeed real light before, and the fact that Lin Chung can amp his speed with the Cheetahs. Lin Chung comfortably takes Stats, both Strength and Speed.

In terms of Raw Abilities, Skunk actually has a wider range of abilities than Lin Chung. Some of which could, in theory, help him win the fight. The Divine Hand and Skunking would be major assets in most fights thanks to the ability to keep your opponent completely frozen or to instantly knock them out. However, while Skunk might have more abilities, Harmonic Energy is such a versatile ability. It alone could match and surpass most of Skunk’s abilities. Skunk’s Night of Vision Technique? Harmonic Energy can do the same thing. Skunking’s Projectiles and the Lightning Claw Attack? Harmonic Energy can not only shoot out its own energy blasts, but it can return Skunk’s attacks back to sender. Skunk’s also not strong or fast enough to capitalize off of some of his abilities, such as the Dizzy Master.

However, what really seals the deal for Lin Chung is the fact that he can resist both of Skunk’s potential insta-win options. Lin Chung can withstand foul odors, such as the Camel King’s spit, which instantly knocked out First Squad, or that time he could withstand his own laundry, which knocked out every single girl in Big Green. Meaning that Skunking wasn’t an option. Now the Divine Hand would work on Lin Chung, at first anyways. The Divine Hand can keep enemies frozen, however as per Skunk’s own admission, this only lasts about a minute at most. But with Harmonic Energy, this is completely moot. Harmonic Energy was able to resist and undo the effects of Lizard King’s Energy, which completely froze First Squad in place, a much more potent form of paralysis than the Divine Hand given that they would seemingly be stuck forever had Lin Chung not rescued them.

Skunk also doesn’t have answers for a lot of Harmonic Energy’s options, such as the ability to teleport him out of the battle, or shrink him to the size of an Ant. Still though, Skunk isn’t completely outclassed given that a few of his options could still help, such as Dizzy Master making him harder to hit, or the fact that he could still match a few of Harmonic Energy’s options himself. In any case, Abilities goes to Lin Chung.

When comparing how long both opponents have been going at it in their respective war, Skunk actually holds the advantage here. Skunk has been training since birth, meaning 10 years under Panda’s training, while High Roller’s War has been going for, at most, a few years, though more conservative interpretations point at the war going on for much less given how small Big Green is at the start of the series. Still though, how long each other’s wars have been going for, isn’t enough of a metric on its own. For that, we will have to look at each character's accomplishments.

In terms of what both have accomplished, Lin Chung takes the cake here. He’s practically the writer's favorite character, with him saving the day nearly every episode, coming up with various plans to help end the war. On Skunk’s end, he’s the one practically causing the problems in each episode, either by lying, skimping out on his training, or by thinking fists first. However, in Skunk’s credit, he typically learns a valuable lesson at the end of each episode. That being said, in terms of raw accomplishments, Lin Chung outright killing Twins Masters and nearly ending the war pretty much trumps anything Skunk has personally done. In addition, Lin Chung has mastered Harmonic Energy, while Skunk is still learning how to control his Art of Skunking. Lin Chung became the leader of Big Green, while Skunk is still a student. Lin Chung is officially recognized as Big Green’s greatest warrior, as well as greatest sniper, while Skunk could only complete 35 of 36 chambers, which were required to be recognized as a warrior.

That being said, Skunk is recognized as Panda’s greatest student, which is a great feat when you look at the rest of the Valley, as many other great fighters all trained under Panda, which includes Snake, a great Spy, Fox, one of the more skilled allies, Rabbit, one of the heavier hitters, and Turtle, who’s nearly as old as Panda, being in the game for a long time, allowing Skunk to fair much better against Lin Chung in the Skill department than we expected, but ultimately Lin Chung’s Skill and Accomplishments are just too grand, granting him the final category.

Summary

Lin Chung

Advantages:

  • Takes the Stat Trinity, with or without Harmonic Energy
  • Resists all of Skunk’s Hax
  • Harmonic Energy’s versatility provided Lin Chung with many options that Skunk could not avoid
  • Harmonic Energy provides strong defensive options
  • Could reverse most, if not all of Skunk’s ranged attacks
  • The much more skilled opponent
  • Way more accomplished
  • Got a 2nd Season when Skunk Fu! didn’t
  • Is the show writer’s favorite character

Disadvantages:

  • Doesn’t resist the Divine Hand in base
  • Could potentially be distracted mid fight via art inspiration
  • Might have trouble with some of Skunk’s unorthodox options.

Skunk

Advantages:

  • The Divine Hand would work at first…
  • Could potentially make up the stat gap by scaling to Pig…
  • Moves like the Dizzy Master make him harder to hit
  • Technically has a larger pool of abilities

Disadvantages:

  • …But will no longer work when Harmonic Energy is used
  • …But is still beat out by Lin Chung’s higher ends
  • Is consistently weaker than Lin Chung
  • Doesn’t resists some of Harmonic Energy’s Instant Win options
  • Is much slower than Lin Chung
  • All of his hax are resisted by Lin Chung
  • Not as skilled of an opponent

In the end, Lin Chung had everything he needed to win this fight. He was stronger, faster, more skilled, and Harmonic Energy was simply too much for Skunk. When fighting animals is what Lin Chung does almost every day, it’s no surprise that this Skunk was just another episode to him. Skunk was no slouch however, he was still a very skilled opponent with many impressive abilities of his own, however when it comes to Heroes, it would be Fu-lish to think Lin Chung didn’t master the Art of Harmony. The Winner is Lin Chung

Closing Thoughts

Welcome (is it really welcome if I’m writing this at the end of the blog?) to my first Character Vs Character Blog! Will these become a frequent thing here? Maybe? In truth, I have plans with other matchups, that if I ever decide to fully go through, I will announce soon. In regards to this Blog, this was intended to be a Character Analysis Blog instead of Character Vs Character. I intended to do only Lin Chung, but given the show was short enough and his research was finished during my break from work, I thought, why not tackle a bit more! I decided to do Skunk as his opponent based purely off of a whim and vibes, plus both of these shows are probably forgotten by the average person, so let’s shine some light on them again. Speaking of which, let’s talk about these shows.

Hero: 108? I think it holds up really well. I watched it a lot as a kid, though season 2 was unfamiliar to me upon researching it, so I probably didn’t watch the whole show. Mighty Ray is secretly the main character btw with how much scaling revolves around him. I don’t know if they intended for a Season 3, but the way Season 2 ended was really good, so I’m happy with it as a whole.

Skunk Fu? This show was weirdly vivid to me. I strangely remembered and knew a lot of the lines, moments, and scenes of the shows. Makes sense I guess given I actually owned the DVD of this show as a kid. Does this show hold up? Eh… It’s ok. Nothing crazy, but I don’t see myself recommending this show to anyone these days. It’s definitely much more of a kids show compared to Hero: 108, but overall it was a fine experience. Also you didn’t hear this from me but Rabbit is secretly Bakugo’s best opponent. (not really)

Well, till next time!...

Ok, I was originally going to put what the next blog I was planning on here, but until it gets to a point where I can comfortably say it will come out, I will refrain from doing so. I have ideas for both Solo character Blogs and Matchup Blogs, so I'll probably get to work on them soon. Also, uhhhh... taking suggestions for blogs I suppose, I specialize in cartoons it seems, so I'm more likely to do those. Alright, Happy New Year.
