*Whistle* Ed, Edd N Eddy! The troublemaking trio of the Cul-De-Sac!

Our trio’s journey begins with humble beginnings, Edd would move into Peach Creek, and meet both Ed and Eddy, all three amused by having the same name. Eddy would then proceed to one of his first ever scams with his “Bottomless Ed” scam, and the rest would be history. These 3 would remain friends ever since, even through all of their hardships, as even though the world might be out to get them, they all 3 stand together.

Ed is your lovable goofball with the brain of a bug, but a heart of gold. He’s the muscle of the group, having superhuman capabilities. He has a huge affinity for comics and monster movies, so much so that at one point he literally viewed the whole Cul-De-Sac as monsters from his movie marathon. He typically joins the rest of the Eds in their antics, where they put his super strength to use. While he’s silly and generally happy, don’t upset him or it will be “Big Trouble”

Edd, also known as Double D, is the brains of the group, he’s always tinkering in his house, coming up with some inventions or tending to his insect collection. He’s extremely intelligent, being able to create some insane inventions with just common objects, but he’s also a bit of a… pushover. He gets walked on by everyone, including Eddy, he’s not very strong, but to some, Brain is better than Brawn, and with his intelligence, he’ll show you why that’s true for him.

Eddy is the leader of the group, scheming up plans, and always pushing the Eds to go along with his plans. He comes up with nearly all of their scams, though he typically forces both Ed and Double D to do most of the work. Due to his scheming nature, he is essentially hated by just about everyone in the Cul-De-Sac, however with his 2 pals by his side, there’s nothing these 3 can’t do!.. Except get Jawbreakers apparently

As a group, all 3 have one united goal: Jawbreakers! These massive balls of sugar cost only 25 Cents! With prices like that it makes you wonder how these guys can’t afford them, but in any case, they’re what push the Eds to do what they do best: Scam. These guys will come up with convoluted scams in order to make a quick quarter or three in order to buy their favorite candy, from selling fake Ice Cream, to a poorly run restaurant, to even building an entire city out of cardboard in one afternoon. These guys will let nothing get in their way of getting these Jawbreakers, so much so that they have endured so much punishment throughout the show.

Before We Begin…

This is fairly straightforward, we will be looking at everything from their series, all 130 episodes, 4 specials, and their movie, their video games, and their comics. Crossover stuff will NOT be included, so no Super Secret Crisis War and no FusionFall.

Bumpers and Idents will also be excluded, as there is nothing supporting that they are canon to the show, and are typically not made by their show's respective creator. But just because I want to share one specific Ident only feat that I found, Ed crashed into the ground so hard, it swallowed their entire cartoon, which technically would be Universal, but of course we are not using this lol. unless it makes the eds beat their opponents (evil)

Also, unless stated otherwise, I will be treating all abilities as something all three Eds can do. I will be listing who performs said ability if you don’t necessarily agree with this idea.

Experience and Skill

Ed

Ed is not the brightest of the 3… Ok, he might not be the brightest of anyone, but he more than makes up for it in terms of raw physical power and fighting prowess. Thanks to his love of comic books and movies, Ed has picked up a few tricks, most notably in his Lothar personality, where he would use what he learned during his horror movie binge in order to take on what he thought were Halloween Monsters of the night, which in reality were just the Cul-De-Sac kids. Another notable form would be his Edzilla form, where he thinks he is a monster and begins to tactfully plan his attack on the Cul-De-Sac, utilizing stealth and precision. Ed may normally be held back by his intelligence and good nature, but when various of his forms, or when he gets angry, he’s no longer held back by such things, making him a scary opponent.

Edd

In a sense, Edd is the complete opposite of Ed, instead of being super strong, he’s super weak. Instead of being simple minded, he’s super intelligent. This intelligence is what makes up for his lack of fighting skill, as he tends to let his inventions do all his physical labor, or by getting Ed’s help. Not to completely discredit him though, he has shown to have limited wrestling knowledge, such as when he dons the Masked Mumbler persona, where he takes on Lee Kanker and busts out his wrestling moves. He’s also accidentally beat up most of the Cul-De-Sac kids, although this was done by complete accident, as he is a pacifist. Where he shines is using his intellect in order to formulate plans or invent various things in order to aid the Eds.

There’s also the biggest mystery, what is under his hat? Do you want to know? Well, too bad because we don’t know, but what we do know is the source of his pacifism and trauma of dodge-ball, which I will explain here because I didn’t have anywhere else to share this and I find this too cool to not be shared:

Storyboard artist “Raven Molisee” shared with us insight on Double D’s character. In the episode “Ed in a Halfshell” Edd is revealed to have a bad history with Dodgeball, while at the time this was likely nothing more than a gag meant for just the scene, it spawned a ton of theories involving Edd’s hat, wondering if they were connected. (They weren’t) However, this was supposed to be further elaborated in the movie “Big Picture Show”. According to Molisee, “After "too many hits to the head" as he put it, he finally designed a dodgeball-shooting cannon to retaliate. The resulting injuries to all his classmates scarred Edd much more than any abuse he'd received to his own person. This would have been the origin of his pacifism and a hint at why he was so crushed by the events in A Fistful of Ed.”

This would actually lead to a fake out in the movie, where Double D would take off his hat, but rather than us seeing what's underneath, a newspaper clipping would fall out, revealing a picture of Edd in handcuffs, giving a public apology in regards to the dodge-ball incident. This scene would have shown Edd finally feeling comfortable in sharing such information with the Eds, who he truly viewed as his best friends. Ultimately never made canon, but this would have been a beautiful moment in the film, showcasing the bonds of the Eds.

Eddy

Who’s the man with the plan? Eddy! He’s the one who typically pulls the strings in the group dynamic. He’s always scheming and scamming whenever he can, heck, one time he started scamming squirrels out of their acorns because there were no kids to scam. Eddy is really really good at manipulating others. He has consistently tricked just about every kid in the Cul-De-Sac, and boy does he go all out for his scams, such as the time where he tricked everyone into thinking it was still summer by blasting heat throughout the Cul-De-Sac and painting every single leaf green. Due to his devious nature, Eddy has gotten involved in a lot of scraps… usually on the receiving end though, constantly getting beat up. However as the main man, he always pushes the Eds to be the best they can be, and if it weren’t for him, they’d probably wouldn’t have left their comfort zones.

Equipment

Jawbreakers

The Ed’s most prized possession: Jawbreakers! These act as the motivation for the Ed’s constant scams. Best of all? They only cost 25 Cents! There are a variety of these things, so many flavors, and some even possess unique abilities!

Bike

Presumably Ed’s. Useful for fast transportation. It should also be comparable to Kevin’s bike, which acts more like a motorcycle than a bike.

Camera

Used in “Quick Shot Ed”, this camera flashes so bright whenever it takes a picture that it can temporarily blind others and disorientate them. It was so bright that Kevin needed sunglasses in order to not be stunned by the Camera

Hypnotizing Wheel

When a person gazes upon the wheel, it will hypnotize them (3:26), allowing the Eds to control them completely, such as making them act like a monkey (4:30) or a giant man-eating noodle (7:49). Eddy would turn the wheel into a hat (5:18), allowing people’s gazes to fall upon the wheel. The wheel also seems to possess limited morphing abilities (6:03), such as when it made Jimmy Buff, Keven’s face resemble that of a chimp, and increased Sarah’s tongue length when she was turned into a frog. It could even grant the ability to fly (8:17) The wheel can even be broadcasted onto a screen in order to hypnotize a large number of people at once (9:00). However, if one’s eyes are obstructed, they will not be hypnotized. (10:10)

Chunky Puffs

The Eds favorite cereal. It has shown to have healing properties in the Video Game, as picking it up heals the Eds health.

Jim

Edd’s cactus, he once wielded it as a weapon in order to scare off what he thought was an intruder in his house. (1:42)

Montezuma's Free Range Manure

An extremely large bag of manure.

Plant Manipulation: This stuff is extremely potent, as it was able to raise the grass on every lawn well above the height of the kids. (16:46)

Canadian Squirt Gun

“Canadians are weird” - Ed 1999. (Actually just a turkey baster but don’t tell Eddy that) Found in the dump, these Canadian Squirt Guns allow the Eds to fight off their enemies at a range, just fill and squirt! (2:20) Eddy used these Squirt Guns to become the sheriff of the Cul-De-Sac. Eddy has shown to be an impressive shot, such as when he ricochets a shot off of a tree, across the kids’ ears and straight onto Ed (3:52) Double D even invented a stationary mini-gun with them. (10:34)

Metal Detector

Detects Metal… Yep

Wind Up Toy

Ed’s wind up toy, just wind it up and watch it eat anything in its path. It was able to eat Ed’s chair and even part of Eddy’s stomach, leaving a giant hole in his belly (11:51)

Bow

But no arrow, instead Ed will launch whatever he has nearby as the arrow, such as a vase, guitar, cactus, or even Eddy.

Giant Magnet

Modified by Double D, this magnet was used in an attempt to nab quick cash from unsuspecting people’s pockets. This magnet is powerful enough to yoink Jimmy’s retainer (with him still attached to it) from several meters away (0:40)

The Claw

Do not taunt The Claw! (It’s actually just a clothes hanger) The codename Ed gave himself during his spy mission with the Eds.

Armenian Secret Hot Sauce

Recipe by Eddy’s brother, this hot sauce is so hot, it literally burnt the Eds, from Edd’s head fuming like a volcano, to Ed’s head burning to near ash, and Eddy literally igniting into flames.

Magic Shoe

Okay, so it’s really just Ed’s regular shoe, but in an attempt to scam Rolf, they claimed it was a magical shoe that could grant any wish to those who take a whiff.

  • Fragrance and Sleep Manipulation - The smell of Ed’s shoe was so strong, it was able to knock Rolf out cold for seemingly hours (5:33)

Baron O' Beef Dip

One of Ed’s toys. It has a string on its back that, when pulled, it breathes fire out of its mouth, scorching anything in its path. (8:28)

Fish

“What? More fish?”

Used by Eddy in his duel against Rolf, though he never landed a single hit. As revealed by the flashback episode “The Good Ol’ Ed”, Eddy kept the fish for some reason.

Sheldon

Ed’s lucky charm, Sheldon. While it may be just a piece of cheese, don’t let it fool you. This rotten chunk of dairy is insanely cracked and is one of Ed’s most OP pieces of equipment!

  • Fragrance Manipulation: You can already tell just by looking at it, but this thing smells horrible! Its awful smell is enough to disorientate others, and its smell is the source of it’s other abilities
  • Color Manipulation: The moment Double D caught a whiff of Sheldon, his colors instantly depleted, quite literally melting off his person. (2:35)
  • Death Manipulation: Yeah this cheese smells so bad it literally kills you! It can be AoE based, such as when a fly got too close to Sheldon (3:19), or when it was thrown into a pond, which instantly killed all of the fish in there. It will also completely disintegrate those who come into contact with Sheldon direct

While Eddy did get rid of Sheldon at the end of his episode, it is revealed that Ed has another “Lucky Charm” named Angus, which he claimed was luckier, implying it is just as smelly as Sheldon. Even more, in a different episode, Ed has a new piece of cheese, named “Sheldon Jr”, which also should be comparable to the original.

Cursed Phone

According to Rolf, this phone has haunted his family for generations, so he buried it. Eddy, wanting to keep it for himself, dug it out and put it in his room, unfortunately for him, Rolf was not exaggerating.

  • Luck Manipulation: Everytime the phone rings and someone answers it, bad luck will strike, such as getting sprayed by a skunk, or getting hit by a wild ice cream cart.

Boomerang

It’s unknown how this mysterious boomerang ended up in the Cul-De-Sac, but upon contact with any of the Cul-De-Sac kids, it would have vastly different effects. With Jimmy, it turned a small, fragile boy into a super strong muscle man, strong enough to hurt Kevin. It turned Rolf into an opera singer. At the end of the episode, it was last seen with the Eds, who all got affected by the Boomerang

Alien Vacuum

When Eddy heard about the potential Aliens invading the Cul-De-Sac, a get rich quick scheme brewed in his mind, he would capture an alien, ghostbusters style and rake in the dough. This vacuum is powerful enough to completely suck up Ed and have him trapped in there until Eddy lets him out. (14:15)

Eddy’s (Brother’s) Car

In the movie, The Eds needed an escape, so they used Eddy’s Brother’s car. Unfortunately they had trouble starting it up, so Ed took matters into his own hands and started running the car Flintstones Style, seemingly being as fast as the car normally would

Inventions

Double D has invented many things before, many of which will be listed here along with what they do. While he and the Eds obviously don’t carry all of his inventions all at once, in a Death Battle scenario, he likely would have access to most, if not all of them.

Note: Certain inventions have been left out, either by having no practical use, little to no info, or never finished/destroyed before any practical use.

Lie Detector

With just a few fires, a toaster, and a lightbulb, Double D was able to create a functional lie detector (8:10)

Elevation Boots

Also known as Walking Braces, these were invented for Eddy in order for him to appear tall. With just the press of a button, Eddy can control their height, but if too much force is applied, the boots can malfunction. They can be used to tower over others and even squash them. (19:10) They are even capable of extending all the way into space! (21:14)

Rocket

With a bunch of junkyard scraps, Edd was able to build a (somewhat) functional rocket (8:38) It was able to launch Eddy very far before the G-Force eventually destroyed the rocket. As it is simply a prototype, Edd claims that after enough testing, he would then build the real rocket.

Newspaper Launcher

Made by Double D in order to deliver Newspapers faster, however when overloaded it shoots them fast enough to smash windows and dent street lights (9:00) Ed could even launch himself with it. Theoretically the Eds can use it to launch many things as long as it can fit inside the tube.

Body Heat Seeking Goggles

As the name implies, these goggles allow the Eds to track others based on their body heat (16:10), perfect for winning a game of Hide-And-Seek! Ed would utilize these goggles the best, as he relates the thermal vision to a monster in a movie he saw.

El Mongo Stink Bomb

Taught by Eddy’s brother, Eddy made El Mongo Stink Bomb (9:12) as the ultimate prank, which he planned to release it onto the kids, but it accidentally popped in their house, launching a massive shockwave of stink among the Cul-De-Sac, causing the kids to run and hide from the stink. Of course, Ed was immune to the smell.

Hoverpack

During the rise of several fads, in order for the Eds to stay on top, they tried to create several fads themselves. While many of them seem useless for a fight, one of Edd’s ideas was a hoverpack, which he created with nothing more than a fan, granting him pseudo-flight. (6:44)

Ship

The Eds made a cruise ship in order to make cash. Made from a big tube and powered by Ed, this ship allows the Ed’s to travel the seas (or in their case, the creek).

Trojan Dolly

Made by Double D in order to sneak back into Ed’s house. (4:58) Inside the dolly is a lever that allows them to control its movement. Despite its shoddy craftsmanship, it was enough to fool Jimmy.

Baking Powder Vapor Barrier

Invented by Double D, it’s essentially a smoke bomb disguised as a Jawbreaker, as he put it, just one lick could set it off. Later used by Eddy in order to get out of a hairy situation, which resulted in the whole house he was in to be covered in baking powder. (10:43)

Jet Pack

A JetPack invented by Edd, primarily used by Eddy, who was quick to master its movements.

Grappling Hook

Used by Ed, he used it to latch onto Jimmy’s roof and used his tongue to swing across the rope. (7:40)

X-Ray Glasses

Used by Edd in order to peek into Jimmy’s presents, which the Ed’s thought was enemy spy intelligence.

Bouncy Bubble

A large bubble with a bike handle tapped to it. This bubble provides insane mobility, allowing Eddy to zoom across his backyard and launch himself to extreme heights (12:00) Unfortunately Ed’s weight was too much for the bubble, causing it to pop.

Eddy's Better-Than-Jimmy's Play-Safe Suit

Built by Eddy, this suit was intended to protect him from all harm. He built it after getting jealous of Jimmy’s attention when he was in his safety bubble. It was able to protect him from a great fall that left a crater, however Rolf was able to bypass the suit through a weak spot.

Rolling Pin Roader

Edd rides on a Rolling Pin like a segway, with a fan and a paper sail propelling him forward. It’s also equipped with a Lawn Mower to use as a weapon

  • Plant Manipulation: Edd can press a button to deploy a watering can well ahead of him, causing grass to grow rapidly in a short time. (19:01)

Bubble Gum

A gum that is incredibly difficult to chew, however it’s no problem for a guy like Ed. With this gum, he was able to blow an incredibly large bubble big enough that it allowed him to gain flight (11:53)

Garbage Scooter

When the Eds heard there were Free Jawbreakers, they made a run for it to the Candy Store, however when Edd realized they wouldn’t make it in time at their current pace, he invented the Garbage Scooter with just pieces of junk lying around (6:36)

Edd’s Proposal: Quarter Remover

After the whole Cul-De-Sac failed to grab a quarter that was stuck to the ground, Edd came up with an idea to create an excavator in order to dig it out (20:44). It managed to dig out a good chunk of the ground, but unfortunately for them, the quarter was just too stubborn.

Thing-A-Majig

The Thingamajig allegedly dispenses anything the user needs, from hats, to chairs, to boxing gloves. (0:42) With just a press of the button, it will eject what the user desires from its slot. It’s also very compact, given that a whole chair can fit inside.

Sub-Zero Battlesuit

When the kids thought Aliens took over the Cul-De-Sac, Double D researched Ed’s comics to see what these aliens are capable of. He learned of their heat vision, so he invented the Sub-Zero Battlesuit, which in his own words “should effectively protect us from their detonation of heat” (13:49)

Plane

The Eds were sick of School and decided to bust out. Edd built a plane to fly away. (9:32) It only flies at 30 MPH and has a max weight capacity, but just enough for the 3 Eds. Despite never flying a plane before, Eddy instantly figured out the controls and flew the plane fairly well. This plane was fully functional, and only failed because of Edd accidentally dragging the plane down when he got stuck on a fence.

"Tactical Search-And-Rescue Vehicle"

Edd claims it’s a vehicle meant to search for Sarah to help her from “the falling sky”, but in reality, it’s just a vehicle meant for the Ed’s to catch up to the schoolbus.

S.S Mutant Almost a Chicken Duck

To get to the sea, Edd built a boat based on a duck for optimized travel. The Eds hoped they could use it to find Eddy’s Brother, who presumably lives near the sea.

Stink Bombs

Equipped with a seemingly never ending supply of Stink Bombs, Eddy can throw them at his enemies.

  • Paralysis Inducement and Fragrance Manipulation: The smell of these Stink Bombs render most enemies stunned for a few seconds

Chain Wallet

Eddy’s chain wallet, he uses it to attack his enemies. It can be used to stun enemies for a short time and even defeat animals such as alligators.

Ruler

Edd’s melee weapon. Similarly to the other attacks in the game, this too can be used to stun and defeat enemies.

Slingshot

Edd’s slingshot, equipped with water balloons. Used to hit enemies from a distance and to activate hard to reach switches.

Gold Stopwatch

With the Gold Stopwatch, The Eds can stop time itself, upon activating it, the in game timer stops, along with all enemies (random contraptions seem to be immune though)

Go-Cart

In “Ed, Edd n Eddy: Cul-De-Sac Smash”, and its sequel “Wheels of Fury", the Eds are equipped with the default cart “Zippy”. It’s used to smash into other carts with the goal of being the last go-kart standing. After winning Derby’s, the Eds can use their winnings to upgrade or repair their Go-Kart. Upgrades include increased Speed, Strength, and Handling. In the sequel “Wheels of Fury” The Eds all have unique Special Abilities:

Misc Video Game Items

  • Marshmallows: Restores 2 Hearts
  • Hot Sauce: Restores your special attack meter
  • Camera: Knocks out all enemies on screen
  • Special Move: Each Ed has a special move that they can perform
  • Super Powered Water Pistol: Short ranged water pistol that attacks enemies and removes Chunky Puffs off of kids. Also stuns opponents.
  • Extra Sprung Boots: Allows Eddy to leap onto obstacles
  • Super Sprung Sneakers: Gives Eddy an even bigger jump, perfect for tall obstacles
  • Fizzy Pop Can: AoE blast that destroys Chunky Puffs off kids and obstacles. Also stuns opponents.
  • Water Balloon Bombs: AoE blast that destroys presents off kids and obstacles. Also stuns opponents.
  • Fake Eddy: When Inflated, enemies will mistakenly attack this decoy instead of Eddy
  • Canadian Squirt Gun: Upgraded version of the Water Pistol, deals more damage and has a higher range. Also stuns opponents.
  • Manhole Locator: Locates every manhole on the map
  • Temporary Shield: Gives Eddy temporary immunity to enemies
  • Electro-Gun: A raygun that zaps its targets, damaging and stunning them
  • Also contains various upgrades that up its damage and range.

Abilities/Skills

Reality Warping/Meta Manipulation

The Eds have shown several feats of warping reality and even interacting with their world on some sort of meta level: (Note: One + One = Ed feats won't be included in this section)

  • Hammerspace: The Eds consistently pull objects out of nowhere
  • Eddy was able to create a physical lightbulb just by having an idea (16:09)
  • Eddy slid so fast he was literally losing his animation color (12:16)
  • Edd was able to increase the size of a small gap with just a contraption (16:02)
  • Ed was able to open a tree like a door and went inside, climbing it from within (5:56)
  • The “walls” Edd made by placing tape on the ground was made physical, as evident by Ed running into said wall (6:06)
  • The Eds could interact physically with Edd’s “imaginary border”
  • Ed was in front of Edd’s textbox
  • Eddy could rip apart Rolf’s music video like a present (12:55)
  • The Eds hit the sky so hard it broke, leaving a hole into a static void
  • Ed popped out of a loose door like it was a trap-door (15:00)

Body Control

The Eds have shown to be able to control and morph their bodies, such as by stretching their limbs, or even shaping their bodies in order to fit through small surfaces

Surface Scaling

The Eds can walk on both walls and ceilings.

Regeneration

The Eds have several impressive showings of Regeneration, making them seemingly difficult to put down:

  • They have been melted into a puddle (2:17) before and were fine moments later (Low-High Regeneration)
  • Eddy is able to regenerate from melting (Pictured above)
  • Eddy was able to regenerate a hole in his stomach (12:16)
  • Ed was able to regenerate a new head (20:34)
  • Ed was able to regenerate his head being burnt (2:13)
  • Ed can regenerate from deflating like a balloon (13:12)
  • Eddy was able to reform himself after being liquefied (19:00)
  • Ed can regen after shattering like glass (19:46)
  • Edd could regenerate his colors after having them melted off of him (2:35)
  • Edd could regenerate from being disintegrated (Mid-High Regeneration)
  • Ed could live without his head attached (6:34) (Immortality Type 2)
  • Ed got melted into a puddle by Sarah and regened the next scene (4:42)
  • Eddy can regenerate after being shattered like glass

Magic

In “Sir Ed-a-Lot” it’s revealed that Eddy knows how to perform magic! He was able to pull Double D out of a hat (6:27)

Acrobatics

The Eds, mainly Eddy, have shown several moments of acrobatics, such as when Eddy was flung himself through a swing in order to perform an impressive jump (13:02) or when Eddy leaped onto a tree and swung himself into Edd’s house via the open window. (1:47)

Even in his crazed state, Eddy was still able to effortlessly swing away on a bunch of ropes (18:50)

Shapeshifting

The Eds have shown to have the ability to shape their bodies

This ability can be an excellent counter to transmutation.

Immersion

Ed was able to enter an old cartoon that was playing on the TV (21:24), and even alter it, such as when he jumped out of a chest and had the cartoon character react to his action. He can just as easily leave the cartoon, such as when he left it during his game of Hide-and-seek.

Manipulation

Eddy is quite the liar, he’s extremely good at it in fact. He’s consistently tricked everyone in the Cul-De-Sac, such as the time he convinced everyone that the “Mucky Boys” exist, or when he tricked everyone that it was still summer. He even messes with his own friends too, such as when he convinced Double D he had a great illness.

Imagination Creation

Ed invented an imaginary friend named Jib, however to the surprise of Eddy, Jib was 100% real and could fully interact with him, such as when he beat Eddy up. (20:21) While Jib was sent away at the end of the episode, given he was made from Ed’s mind, he could likely imagine another imaginary friend. Even Eddy was shown to possess this power, such as at the end of the episode when he imagined an invisible potato and an invisible slingshot and actually hit Ed with it. (22:00)

Molecular Manipulation

By multiplying the isolated bubble of carbon gas, Edd was able to create a soda that never loses its fizz. (11:46)

Hair Manipulation

Ed can control his Unibrow, which he was able to use to crawl across the floor (17:16)

Ed was able to reattach his unibrow back on his head after Eddy ripped it off (10:42)

Fourth Wall Awareness

The Eds seem to be aware that they are in a cartoon, as they have referenced their medium multiple times. Though, they haven’t weaponized this ability. At one point however, Edd did call for the end of an episode by asking for an “Iris-in” (22:15)

Magnetism

By rubbing Eddy on the top of his hairs, he was able to conduct static electricity strong enough to stick Eddy to a metal garage door. (4:44)

Flight

The Eds have shown numerous moments of flight-like abilities:

  • Both Ed and Eddy were able to stay mid-air because they were unaware of the lack of ground, à la looney tunes style. (11:49)
  • Ed pulled on Eddy’s Chain Wallet, which caused his hair to spin like a helicopter, granting him flight. (19:15)
  • Ed levitated upwards to the sky when going “Up”
  • Not exactly flight, but Eddy can double jump.
  • All the Eds can double jump in “Scam of the Century”
  • With Edd’s umbrella, which let him float in the air Mary Poppins style (7:53)
  • Ed was able to take flight like a stork (10:42)

Shadow Manipulation

Eddy was able to manipulate Ed’s shadow with his own, according to Ed, he was able to feel it despite it only happening to his shadow. (1:22) Double D is quite advanced in his shadow puppetry, making impossible shapes with his hand (1:32)

Memory Manipulation

Ed was able to rewind Double D’s memory by pressing on his head like a radio (2:42)

Ed was able to make Double D forget years worth of memories by dropping a house on top of his head.

Lock Picking

With just a strand of his hair, Eddy was able to pick the lock of a diary with relative ease (16:48)

Animal Manipulation

After doing everything in Ed’s comic book “The Curse of Evil Tim”, a flock of crows gathered where Ed performed his “sacrifice”, attacking the Eds, implying that the curse is actually real. (11:02)

With the use of his flute, Ed can control animals (3:23), similar to the Pied Piper

Erasure

By rubbing Eddy’s head with his arm, Ed was able to erase a part of his head. (2:00) It’s possible that Ed could fully erase someone with this method if he targeted their whole body. Edd was able to undo this erasure. (2:09)

Sumo Wrestling

Ed one day decided he wanted to be a Sumo Wrestler after seeing it on TV, so he donned the outfit for it and started wrestling. He seems to copy moves that he saw on TV, he can even sumo the sidewalk (3:19)

Sound Manipulation

  • Ed plays the violin so bad, that the notes he plays manifest a physical form that can literally hit others (13:46). Ed’s playing has also destroyed Kevin’s bike’s tires. (18:59) Despite the violin being broken by the end of the episode, Ed can use Eddy’s hair as a (just as terrible sounding) replacement. (22:20)
  • When Ed was angry, he screamed so loud that he was able to rip off Eddy’s shirt and even knocked Double D unconscious. (9:34)
  • Ed can be used as a speaker (3:40)
  • Eddy can mute others completely (5:07)

Duplication

Ed was able to duplicate himself. He did this for an extra set of hands when he was upgrading the “Up Elevator” Edd made.

Transmutation

Ed was able to turn Eddy’s head completely into a comic book panel just by slamming it with his comic. (7:38)

Reverse Psychology

To get rid of the Kankers, Double D used reverse psychology. They gave the Kankers a taste of their own medicine by flirting back, which scared them in return, causing them to run in fear. (17:14) Double D uses this technique most effectively, and even uses it to get Ed to do whatever he needs him to do.

Body Part Removal

The Eds can remove the body parts off of others quite easily. Either by grabbing them or by smacking them off:

  • Ed removed Jonny’s eyeballs (3:58), this, of course, removed Jonny’s ability to see
  • Eddy was able to detach Ed’s head from his body. (6:34)
  • Edd accidentally ripped Ed’s face off (10:31)
  • Ed accidentally removed his own eyes (14:26)

Enhanced Senses

With just a sniff of Eddy’s cologne, Ed was able to track down Eddy from a good while away, just like a sniffer dog. (18:54)

Plant Manipulation

  • Edd, with just a watering can, made Sarah sprout after she was buried underground, complete with its own bulb and branches (9:44)
  • Edd’s tears instantly made a flower sprout (10:35)

Electricity Manipulation

With Edd’s fuzzy slippers, Ed was able to conduct so much electricity that he destroyed Double D’s house. (12:43)

Time Travel/Scene Transitions

With the use of Flashbacks, the Eds can travel through time. They do this by physically grabbing the scene transition, which will transport them to whatever point they want, whether it be the past (13:28) or the future (19:03). Via this, they can end up in other people’s flashbacks. (17:22) At the end of the Episode, the Eds travel all the way back to the day the Eds first met, even aging them backwards in the process.

Soul Manipulation

Edd just wanted a shower, but after getting covered in filth all day, he broke. He went mad and kept covering himself with trash. This resulted in him smelling so bad, that his projected soul literally died from the smell (20:16)

This technically requires preparation, since it took Edd getting more and more filthy across the episode, however this process was done via simple garbage such as muddy puddles, condiments, manure, and miscellaneous trash from a trash can. Characters like Ed, or items such as Sheldon should naturally have worse odor than whatever Edd had to endure. (Yes we are out here power scaling stink)

Invisibility

I’m gonna be for real for a second, when I first saw this pushed as invisibility, I always thought it could just as easily be pushed as just simple camouflage, but when looking at it, the tile background doesn’t follow Ed when he moves, where it would if it was camouflage, so invisibility it is.

Batter-Ed

The rest of the Eds hang on to Ed as he charges forward, acting as a battering ram. This form is used to clear obstacles and defeat enemies

  • Paralysis Inducement: Some enemies who are hit by this ability get temporarily stunned

Trampol-Edd

Edd’s formation, Eddy and Ed give Edd a boost, acting as a trampoline. He can use this form to reach places he normally can’t reach.

Tower-Of-Eddy

Eddy’s formation: The trio forms a tower to reach greater height. Eddy can use this to grab items that are normally out of reach or to chuck his stick bombs a greater distance. This form can also be used to balance themselves across tight passages.

One + One = Ed Feats (See QnA)

Dimensional Manipulation

Ed was able to grab a tree and turn it flat as cardboard (16:13), though it seemed to retain its regular weight.

Plot Manipulation

Basically the entire plot of One+One = Ed

  • Eddy as able to phase into the background art (16:43)
  • Eddy was able to yank out Jimmy’s outline, liquifying him (17:40)
  • Eddy was able to run in place, forming a speed blur, and placed Sarah onto it, forcing her to run away (18:47)
  • Eddy was able to remove Sarah’s mouth (19:30) (Note: The Eds have been able to do this ability outside of this episode)
  • After a scene transition, the episode fades to black, which reveals they are inside Kevin’s eye. (19:50)
  • The Eds can literally break the reality of their world

Size Manipulation

Eddy seemingly appears to be as large as the Sun here, being able to grab and even take a bite out of it. (17:13)

Spatial Manipulation

Ed was able to physically saw a hole into space, causing it to become a sort of wormhole into a different part of the Cul-De-Sac. (18:03) Ed was also able to push the hole away. The hole that was sawed off also became a portal, as when Eddy accidentally stepped on it, he was transported to the top of the screen.

Forms

Masked Mumbler

Edd’s wrestling persona. When the kids were picking on Double D for being weak, Eddy decided the best way to toughen him up was with some good ol fashion wrestling! In this form, Edd actually has a few moves. The other two Eds also have wrestling personas, but they are not as prevalent as Edd’s, but they do join him in a match.

  • Flying Buttress: Edd leaps into the air, and crushes his opponent with his rump
  • Rejuvenate: Nazz comes in to give Edd a kiss, healing him for 1 health
  • Trash Can Block: Eddy puts a trash can on top of Edd, allowing him to block an enemies attack, even dealing damage back.
  • Steamroller: Edd turns into a wheel in order to run over his opponent
  • Monkey Mangler: Edd goes monkey mode and leaps onto his opponent
  • Pile Driver: Edd morph’s his shoes into a hammer and slams them onto his opponent
  • Snake Squeeze Hold: Edd slithers onto his opponent like a snake and constricts them
  • Super Belly Flop: Edd belly flops onto his enemy
  • Stink Foot Surprise: Edd removes his shoe and puts his stinky foot next to his opponent’s face, knocking them out (wtf)
  • The Big Bad Bomb Drop: Edd turns himself into a rocket and launches himself at his opponent, blowing them up
  • Supermove: Ed and Eddy climb onto the stage and clothesline their opponent

Fad Freaky

Accidentally created by Ed, the Fad Freaky Suit was an attempt at staying ahead of the fad curve by combining multiple fads into one suit. The suit contains:

Train Set

Boot

2 Pinwheels

Sprinkler

Mailbox

White Overalls

Fuzz

Spring

Sock

String

Mucky Boys

In order to avoid a pummeling from Kevin, Eddy lied about the existence of the Mucky Boys. In order to seal the deal, he and the rest of the Eds dressed up in mud and became the Mucky Boys. With a war cry, they intimidate their foes, while also carrying a few weapons, like a wrench, a shovel, and a toolbox.

The Flying Eduardo Brothers

Hup Hup! The Ed’s circus act. In order to entertain the kids, Ed went all out on his performance. He was able to fling the Eds upwards, and was gonna launch them off the swing, until his weight broke it. (1:25) When being chased by the kids, Eddy used his circus act in order to escape and even kept the money he got. (10:54)

Edzilla

Ed’s monster alter-ego, based on Godzilla. In this form, Ed truly thinks he is a monster, and goes on a rampage across the Cul-De-Sac. This form is among one of Ed’s strongest, as his moral restraint is off, allowing him to capture even heavy hitters like Rolf and Kevin.

Pebble In Shoe Ed

One day, Ed got a pebble in his shoe, this irritated him and upset him so much he became Angry. With this, his moral restraint is truly gone. He’s not afraid to stand up to anyone, not even Sarah, who he’s normally afraid of, and not even his best buds could calm him down. Don’t upset him even further or else it will be Big Trouble!

  • Rage Boost: Due to his rage, Ed no longer holds back, as his superstrength is normally held back by his friendly nature. Even Sarah was terrified of him when he fought back, when she normally has Ed at her mercy. (3:26)

Professor Scam

Eddy’s Supervillain Persona. He donned the outfit in his duel with Captain Melonhead. This suit is also equipped with a few tricks up its sleeve.

  • Professor Scam Flyer: An old bike with a set of wings and a balloon attached. It provides flight, and its direction is likely controlled by its handles and pedals. Though Eddy never got to use the thing as it flew away when he was busy monologuing. (6:56)
  • Energy Projection: From his Ray of Riches attack, where he presses his head and releases rays of energy in the shape of a dollar sign. (7:49) It was strong enough to contend with Captain Melonhead, who needed to perform a maneuver to stop his beams.
  • Henchmen: He dressed up the rest of the Eds in matching suits to act as his henchmen. (9:18)

Lothar

After watching a ton of Horror Movies, Ed gained a lot of fighting skill. In his Halloween Costume, which he dubbed “Lothar” he was ready to take on the world. He would view anyone (except his friends) in a Halloween costume as the real deal, letting his imagination take over as he would face them in battle.

  • Enhanced Skill: Due to his hyperactive imagination, Ed would fight what he assumed to be real monsters, putting those skills he learned from watching horror movies to use. Effortlessly beating people such as Sarah and Kevin

Space Monster/Santa

I am lumping these 2 forms together because they are essentially the same thing. Hell, both of these Sky Interactive games are just re-skins of each other.

  • Capturing: Ed can trap kids in Chunky Puffs/Presents, even the strongest characters like Kevin, Rolf, or the Kankers.
  • Life Creation: Ed’s Chunky Puff monsters possess real life. They attack any person in their path
  • Mind Control: Anything that isn’t rescued in time gets mind controlled into a monster, until they are freed.
  • Summoning: With the defective presents Ed gave out, they attack those near them.

Resistances

  • Bad Odors: The Eds hang out with Ed, who is known for his horrible odor. Ed doesn’t mind the smell of Sheldon, who smelled so bad it could kill. With the El Mongo Stink Bomb, the smell was so bad it caused the kids to run in fear, but the Eds were basically fine. (10:49)
  • Space: The Eds have been to space just fine without the use of space suits. This would provide resistances to Radiation, and Limited Cold Manipulation. It would also grant Self-Sustenance (Type 1): Being able to breathe in space without oxygen.
  • Heat: Ed got a sunburn but felt no pain at all, instead he laughed it off. (10:45) With the Sub-Zero Battlesuit, which Double D invented to protect themselves from detonation of heat (13:49)
  • Death Manipulation: Both Ed and Eddy can touch Sheldon without anything bad happening to them, when it instantly disintegrated Double D upon touching it. Despite succumbing to Sheldon’s stink, Edd was able to regenerate from disintegrating.
  • Pain: The Eds constantly get beat up all the time, and get back up after a moment. Eddy participated in The Hairy Chest of Resilience Badge contest, a competition against Rolf where they were subjected to extremely painful tasks. (Like, the entire episode tbh)
  • Transmutation: Eddy can revert his head back to normal after having it transformed into a coin (12:15) or into a comic book. (7:38) Ed was transformed into a fish (11:12), but was fine by the next episode. Ed was only temporarily affected by the Gag Gum’s transmutation effects, such as turning him into a Hot Dog.
  • Disease Manipulation: After eating a tainted Jawbreaker, Ed’s immune system instantly took care of the virus and germs. Edd’s allergenic containment center prevented Ed’s allergies from acting up (20:53)
  • Cloth Manipulation: Ed was turned into a pair of pants, but remained sentient and changed back to normal seconds later (12:40)
  • Electricity: Ed was electrocuted by one of Edd’s inventions and laughed it off. Edd survived “Zappity Zap Zap
  • Radiation: The Eds can touch and break nuclear waste without issue, barring a few ticks of damage at worst.
  • Poison Manipulation: With the Temporary Shield, it provides immunity to the Toxins produced by the Chunky Puff Monsters and by Ed’s Monster form
  • Soul Manipulation: Edd destroyed his own spirit with his smell without repercussions (20:16)
  • Age Manipulation: Ed was only temporarily affected by the Gag Gum turning him into a baby and an old man.

Feats

Power

Durability

  • Kevin and Rolf were crushed by the suit that caused the crater, meaning they likely scale without the need of the suit

Speed

Scaling

The Cul-De-Sac Kids

Alright, let’s explain the scaling real quick, Ed is very obviously the strongest among the kids just based on raw feats, so his scaling is fairly obvious, he just is held back by his kind and dumb nature, however as shown in the episode when he had a pebble in his shoe, even Sarah was scared of him. Double D had an entire episode dedicated to beating up the kids, although by pure accident, though he would still need the strength to be able to do that. Eddy would then scale by proxy by being stronger than Double D, though he too has his fair share of fights with other kids, he was even able to contend with Rolf in a duel and go head to head with him in the The Hairy Chest of Resilience Badge contest.

As for the Kankers, who are often cited to be at the very top of the hierarchy, likely due to the episode where they ripped the Cul-De-Sac apart in search for their ship-in-a-bottle, it turns out the Eds can contend with them too. Their fear of them is often attributed to their fear of their affection, rather than their strength, and in the Valentine’s special “Hanky Panky Hullabaloo”, the Eds get in a direct confrontation with them, equally trading blows. (16:29)

  • Sarah was able to react to the Eds falling from orbit (Mach 2254)
  • Jonny hit the ground so hard he ended up in China (143 - 446 Kilotons of TNT)
  • Once the duel ended, the storm was dispersed, meaning Rolf did indeed sustain the storm.

Weaknesses

The Eds are not without fault, they all have their fair share of weaknesses. The obvious ones are their individual traits, such as Ed being less than intelligent, Double D being weak physically, and Eddy letting his ego get the best of him. Of course with all 3 working together, they do their best to cover their weaknesses, however that’s easier said than done as there have been multiple times where the trio seem dysfunctional and let their antics get the best of them, usually resulting in them getting beat up by the Cul-De-Sac kids.

QnA

Did One + One = Ed Happen?

Let’s break this episode down. In one of their classic get rich schemes, the Eds decide to learn about the world, as the episode progresses, the world around them keeps getting distorted, breaking with each new discovery. They perform all sets of wild abilities and feats in this episode, such as removing outlines, sawing holes in space, and even eating the sun. This episode alone would make the Eds overpowered, but there’s one small problem. This episode is just a dream.

It’s kind of blatant, towards the end of the episode, reality comes crashing down, and the world is back to normal, with the Eds scrounging for their dropped notes, containing their “discoveries.” (21:10) The kids are all confused and question what the Eds are doing, seemingly not recalling the supposed events. In addition, the Eds can’t replicate their abilities anymore, like when Ed failed to remove Jimmy’s outline or remove Sarah’s mouth (Though the Eds did prove they can do this ability anyways). At this point, it becomes abundantly clear that the whole sequence of events was nothing more than their imagination.

But are the events replicable? There’s an interesting argument that because Ed was able to create an imaginary friend in “Who Let the Ed In?” along with Eddy being able to create imaginary objects, that they could theoretically replicate this episode, given it was a byproduct of their imaginations. I too pushed this argument at one point, however I think it’s safe to say that the two are not comparable abilities. To start, Ed’s imagination creation is more akin to a physical manifestation, kind of like the ability to create objects from nothing, while One+One is more akin to widespread reality warping and completely unique abilities that the Eds haven’t been able to do, at least to the lengths of the episode. With that all in mind, I think it’s a bit much to equate the two, and there’s no good justification to use this episode.

This next part is a semi-related tangent, but I’ve also seen this episode used in regard to AP, which is a hard sell. Let’s assume for the sake of argument that this episode is valid to use. The idea that the Ed’s completely broke reality at a Universal scale, means that the Ed’s must also be Universal right? Well, no. At best that is just reality warping at a universal scale, which does not translate to AP directly. Hell, we don’t even have proof that it was even on a Universal scale, the most cosmic thing they did was eat the sun, which would be tied to AP, but that’s the highest you would get from this episode, but again, there is no good justification for this episode to be considered valid, so every feat and ability from this episode should be excluded.

Tl;dr: One+One = No

Immeasurable Eds?

(very quick and bad edit)

Alright, so what is going on with this feat? Immeasurable?? Let’s talk about it. First let’s discuss what the feat actually is. Ed starts running, which in turn makes time go backwards, in Eddy’s own words “rewinding them back to the start”. This reversal of time is directly tied to Ed running, as once he starts going, so does time. Let’s now talk about the definition of Immeasurable. “Being able to casually roam around freely across linear time qualifies for immeasurable speed” quote from our good pals at VS Battles Wiki. As we saw in the episode, the Eds go backwards in time freely, “they can travel forward and backward in time at will”.

So let's see: Backwards in time? Check. Going forwards? Check! Based on what qualifies for Immeasurable speed, it seems we are in the clear so far, we just need to prove its speed rather than a unique ability.

…But isn’t this an ability rather than speed? After all, they spent the whole episode time hopping via flashbacks. Not exactly. See, it’s worth noting how they flashback. The Eds quite literally physically grab the scene transition into the past/future. Basically, they are grabbing the past or future, which would require traversing through linear time. In addition, per Edd’s own words, Ed’s speed controlled the rate in which time was traversed, supported by the fact that time rewinded even faster as Ed himself went faster.

As it stands, this seems to check all the boxes for this to be considered Immeasurable, so Immeasurable Eds right? Well, yes, the feat is immeasurable, however I also want to highlight another quote from our pals, Vs Battles Wiki: “When evaluating speed feats resulting in infinite speed a high amount of scrutiny should be applied. Speed feats of this nature frequently turn out to be Outliers”. You can probably see where I’m going with this. Let’s take a moment to think about every speed feat in Ed Edd N Eddy… Not a single one cracks above FTL. The best you can get them is around Relativistic. Rela all the way to Immeasurable is quite the jump… you could easily argue this as an outlier with this in mind, however depending on how generous you are, you could say either or. There’s even an episode dedicated to them trying to race against time to reach the Candy Store before it closes, but don’t make it in time. All that being said, the feat in question being Immeasurable is valid IMO.

Summary

  • Regeneration makes them extremely difficult to be put down for good
  • High endurance due to constant beatings from various cast members
  • A boatload of resistances
  • A ton of abilities, inventions, and pieces of equipment at their disposal
  • Several ways to bypass durability, such as limb removal, Sheldon’s death manipulation, transmutation, etc
  • An unstoppable bond

Potential Matchups

As a Trio:

The Warner Brothers (The Animaniacs)

(Thumbnail by me)

The Ed’s biggest and most likely matchup IMO. What is there to say, you probably understand it just by looking at it, but the very short version of it is Cartoon Trios who constantly get into trouble, and a lot of toon force shenanigans. The setup is obvious, Eddy tries to scam the Warners, they retaliate, it writes itself. My favorite for them and a top 10 in my most wanted matchups. The Eds lose 100% (sad) but this has so much potential to be one of their wackiest episodes of all time.

Eddsworld

(Thumbnail by RayLuisHDX2)

Another one that you can just look at and instantly understand, also “Edds” “Eds”, cmon now. While I never personally watched Eddsworld, I know this would be a ton of fun just by the little I know.

Nichijou

(Thumbnail by Kraken626)

Yeah I get it. Never watched Nichijou outside of very specific clips, but I can see the vibe. Can’t comment too much on this one other than it could be fun.

Eddy:

Lincoln Loud

(Thumbnail by EternalAshen)

I’m sorry, but this cannot be Eddy’s solo matchup 💀 I genuinely don’t know what to say about this one. Really good thumbnail though!

Gumball

(Thumbnail by EasternHurdle74)

I get it. I think thematically it makes sense, as they can be seen similar in nature. Gumball’s abilities could bounce off of Eddy’s really well and due to how Gumball’s show works, Eddy could fit in no problemo.

Edd:

Numbuh 2

(Thumbnail by me)

I like this one a lot, it makes too much sense IMO. Genius inventors of their respective groups, it would be Edd’s invention’s VS Numbuh 2’s. I do think KND Tech is just vastly superior to Edd’s, but Edd’s toon shenanigans should let him keep up. I don’t know who would win, I imagine Edd just based on how hard he is to kill, but who knows what KND has cooking.

Kowalski

(Thumbnail by me)

(Edd render by SavageBolt95)

I dig this one too. It just makes sense. Edd fighting a penguin wouldn’t even be weird via both show’s standards. Basically an intelligence match with all their tech, basically sharing the same sentiment I have with VS Numbuh 2

Ed:

Patrick Star

(Thumbnail by Brokai)

Let’s be real here, everyone who watched both shows made the comparison. I think they’re perfect for each other, and has the potential to be one of the funniest episodes. I don’t know who would win, I imagine Patrick, but if you lean hard into Ed’s highest arguments, you might have something there. Or maybe both are just too dumb to actually kill the other and it ends in a stalemate.

Billy

(Thumbnail by vegankidollie)

Ultimately, I think this is just Ed Vs Patrick, but same network edition, but it’s still a good matchup in my opinion. I think this one could be a fun matchup to debate, especially with Grim Adventures stats, but who knows who could win this one.

Closing Thoughts

Finally finished another blog, woo!. This one didn’t take too long in all honesty, just about under a month, binging episodes before I left for work. I had a lot of fun doing this one, Ed, Edd, N Eddy is genuinely my favorite cartoon of all time, it means so much to me, I had an Ed, Edd, N Eddy themed birthday, I caught all the marathons, I own all the games, I really love this show. Re-watching this show really reminded me why it is my favorite, it really holds up. There were moments where I was watching it and had to rewind to take notes because I forgot I was watching it for VS.

Anyways, as for what’s next… I don’t know? I have a few ideas in mind, one of which technically already has progress made, but I didn’t continue. I randomly got motivation to do specifically this show, so I did, which is what I think I was missing. Motivation. Lately, it’s hard to sit down and watch shows and play video games like I used to, part of being an adult sadly, but this blog gave me an excuse to essentially do that! I got to relieve my childhood with this one, and I think that’s where my next blog will lead me… Either that or I go back to the Pac-Man research mines to add more to that blog… Unsure what I will ultimately decide on, but till next time!

  1. This is a pretty good blog

You know i would actually love to see you do DCAU Superman (or Darkside) since DCAU is usually underrated verse.
