Character Analysis: MySims
Character Analysis: MySims
Background
Welcome to MySims! Here you can be anything you want to be! Want to bring life back to a run down town? Want to become a Wizard? Here’s your Magic Scepter! Want to throw a Party or go Kart Racing? We have that covered too! Want to get physical and become a Secret Agent or even take to the skies? Here’s your Gadgets and Plane, have fun!
If it hasn’t become clear yet, MySims is a series where you create a character to complete quests and help out residents in your town, and given the variety of MySims games, there’s a lot to do! It differs a good amount from The Sims, this being the family friendly spinoff of those games, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t get insane. There’s actually a lot to unpack here, so get ready, and I hope you enjoy this crazy series known as:
(check out the oc lad I made for the gif, I gave him Pac-Man eyes!)
Before We Begin…
You may be wondering, how will we be tackling this? After all, there isn’t an actual canon MC to these games and each would technically be a different character. I elected to simply ignore that and have this be a composite type character, we will be constructing a character that has access to everything that each MC has.
I will also be sorting their equipment and abilities sections by games in order to make this as organized as possible and to prevent some parts from being needlessly long, in addition, some games have duplicate abilities or pieces of equipment (Example: MySims Kingdom shares a few tools from the original MySims), as to not bloat the blog, I won’t be re-listing them in their respective game unless they have something more unique to them. Alright, let’s get into it, and here is all the games we are using:
Media List:
- MySims + DS
- MySims Kingdom + DS
- MySims Party + DS
- MySims Racing + DS
- MySims Agents + DS
- MySims SkyHeroes + DS
Equipment
MySims
Essences
Essences are the essential resources in MySims. Essences represent 6 different interests: Cute, Fun, Geeky, Spooky, Studious, and Tasty. With Essences, the player has the power to build objects and buildings through the power of Essences. Though Essences can be found just about anywhere, not everyone can use their power. Essences can be used to paint objects or as building blocks, and when using a specific type of Essence, certain Sims who like said Essence will like the object as well.
General Equipment
- Watering Can: Can be used to heal damaged trees, making them healthy instantly! It will also cause trees to bear more fruit.
- Axe: Used to chop down trees, upon chopping it down, it will release all of its Essence
- Treasure Finder: A Metal Detector. Used to search for Essence underground
- Shovel: After finding Essence underground, you can dig it up with your trusty Shovel!
- Fishing Rod: Ayup
- Crowbar: Used to break down any boarded area in the town
- Saw: Used to saw through large logs
- Pickaxe: Used to break down giant boulders
- Blowtorch: Used to melt down Big Metal Doors
- Camera: Pretty much your standard Camera
MySims Kingdom
Magic Scepter
Fundamentally, this is the same thing as Essences from MySims, as it is your construction tool, and you can use it to paint buildings, just like in MySims, however where this differs is that your magic wand is loaded with other useful abilities, but it’s important to note that these will only work in very specific regions and as long as you have Mana, a specific type of Essence that is scattered across the map. This is further hammered in, as it requires Marlon to enchant your Island in order for you to use your wand with no restrictions there.
- Existence Erasure: The Magic Scepter can delete items completely
Magic Bag
Acting as your in-game storage, the Magic Bag carries all of the Essence you’ve collected, allowing your wand to gain new powers, such as the ability to make new furniture.
- Transmutation: You can transform any extra essence you have into Mana. This includes being able to transmutate actual living creatures.
- Soul Manipulation: You can store Ghost Essence, literal spirits, in your Magic Bag. This also means you can transmutate souls into Mana as well.
Royal Ship
Granted permission by King Roland, you can now use the Royal Ship! This allows you to travel to different Islands across the seas!
Synth-O-Tron
Created by Dr. F, the Synth-O-Tron allows you to combine two essences in order to create new objects, such as a garden.
Extractor
Also created by Dr. F, the Extractor allows you to extract Essence from objects.
MySims Party
Beam Blaster
A weapon that shoots a beam out of its cannon. This game also shows up in MySims Kingdom DS, adding further consistency
- Soul Manipulation: These Beam Blasters can fully destroy souls as stated by the Minigame Description: “Get rid of the ghosts with your Beam Blaster! The player who eliminates the most ghosts wins.”
Cards
Provided by Daryl, he gives the players Mystery Cards that all provide some sort of buff/debuff, or item. Credit and shoutouts to the MySims Wiki for listing them all out.
- Item Card: Provides an item at random, each providing a different buff
- Speedy Melon: Fully increases your Speed Stat for a short period of time
- Hearty Grapes: Fully increases your Stamina Stat for a short period of time
- Lucky Lemon: Fully increases your Luck Stat for a short period of time

- Rest Card: Causes your Sim to be knocked out for a few turns
- Blank Card: You get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!
Miscellaneous Equipment
For stuff that doesn’t need its own tab and for ease of reading. Not every single item used in these minigames will be listed for the sake of a clean blog, rather only useful items will be included:
- Ninja Stars: Throwable Ninja stars that can be thrown at a distance
- Piglet: A little piggy that can be ridden for speed
- Axe: Useful for chopping wood, or to be used as a weapon if needed
- Swords: Despite being made of wood, these swords can cut cannonballs and the entire cannon itself
- Cannon: Used to launch cannonballs at enemies
- Motorcycle: Useful for fast travel
- Extendo Arm: Yoink! Allows the player to grab an object from afar.
- Pickaxe: Minecraft! Is used to dig out a whole fossil out of the ground
- Plane: A plane that can boosts and even swing around to attack
- Hang Glider: Used to glide and cross a large gap
- Ball Gun: Shoots balls at enemies, stunning them for a short time
- Bumper Boat: A combination of a boat and a Bumper Kart, it is used to travel across large bodies of water, and it can even leap a large distance
- Skateboard:Aw heck yeah, do some cool trick
MySims Racing
Kart
Welcome to Speedville, where you will start your journey as a Kart Racer in hopes of winning the Championships, but you can’t do that without your trusty Kart! You can fully customize it to your liking, allowing you to upgrade certain parts, giving your ride a boost in Speed, Acceleration, Handling, and even Weight.
- F–Energy: This is how you boost in the game, after collecting enough, either by collecting it from the track, drifting, or bumping into players, you can unleash it to boost your kart to high speeds!
Power-Ups
Given this is your standard Mario Kart inspired game, it wouldn’t be complete without Power-Ups! Each provides different utility in the track.

The Crown Of Nightmares
Created by Morcubus, Paul and Mike, the Crown of Nightmares is an extremely dangerous artifact. It was stated to have the power to change the world and allows access into the Nightmare Realm, a realm that houses the fears of every Sim. The player would get all the pieces of the Crown in order to keep them away from the hands of Morcubus, however at the end it is revealed that he’s been following them to nab the Crown, ultimately being thwarted by Evelyn trapping them both in the Nightmare Realm. At the end of the game, the Crown is in the hands of the player, with them keeping the crown safe. It’s worth noting that the crown itself will not work if it does not have the Fortunite Crystal inside it, as it focuses its power into it. The Crystal itself also isn’t all that durable, considering a Silver Hammer is enough to smash it.
- Transmutation: The Crown transformed one of the researchers, Paul, into a Yeti
- Memory Manipulation: It caused Paul to lose most of his memories of the incident
- Divination: The Crown is equipped with Fortunite, which tells the future.
- Death Manipulation: The Crown turned Carl into a Zombie
- Dimensional Travel: Morcubus was able to open a portal to the Nightmare Realm. It also opened portals to the Nightmare Realm all across the city
- BFR: The Crown of Nightmares trapped Morcubus and Evelyn in the Nightmare Realm
- Power Nullification: In the Nightmare Realm, all magic is disabled
- Reality Warping: The Nightmare Realm manifests Sim’s Nightmares into reality.
MySims SkyHeroes

After crashing and losing your memories, the Skyforce recruits you in order to help take down Morcubus and his Chaos Pirates. What they don’t know is that you were actually part of the Chaos Pirates before the crash. After being recruited, you are given a fighter plane to help aid you in your mission, equipped with a ton of weapons and firepower!
- Bullets: Your plane is equipped with bullets! Be careful not to let them overheat your plane.
- Rockets: The tail end of your plane is equipped with rockets

Abilities/Skills
MySims
Social Influencing
Through the power of COMMUNICATION, you can cheer up anyone you come across, such as an Angry Cop, a sad fisherman, and random Sims to make them love the town! You can even wake people up.
This is also present in MySims Kingdom, through the Socializing action.
Hammerspace
Usually I don’t list this ability because it’s so common and pretty much all video game characters have it because of inventory, but I’m electing to bring it up here because the Sim can carry multiple pieces of furniture, as large as a parasol table, and even a whole garden!
Non-Physical Interaction
Your Sim can interact and hug Cassandra, a ghost sim that randomly appears during seances.
MySims Party
Energy Manipulation
This is usually used to signify that the Sim is doing well in a minigame, giving a slight boost related to whatever minigame they are doing, such as a small boost in speed or strength.
MySims Racing
Vehicular Mastery
As the up and coming Racer, you master the craft of Racing, which would prove crucial in winning the Championships, even on the crazier tracks, such as Giant Bumpers in the Sky, A Giant Pinball track, and even outer space!
MySims Agents
Secret Agent Skills
When you’re out solving cases, you obviously need the skills to perform some successful missions. This would include being quite mobile and athletic in order to platform and climb through obstacles, high intelligence in being able to sniff out clues and find out culprits, and even vehicular mastery in being able to pilot Jets.
Repairing
With your trusty wrench, you can fix nearly any machine you come across, even ones that were badly damaged by things such as a fire.
Hacking
As a Secret Agent, you also know how to hack because of course you do. With this, you can hack through and decrypt secret files that will help you solve your case.
MySims SkyHeroes
Pilot Experience
UP AND AT'EM TROOPS! TIME TO RISE AND SHINE! As a member of both the Skyforce and Chaos Pirates, you’re naturally a pro in the sky, even getting the approval of the old star pilot, who became a big shot. It’s this experience in the sky that led to the defeat of Morcubus and his band of Chaos Pirates.
Resistances
- Radiation: Can stand near radiation and radioactive water without issue
- Electricity: Can withstand the electricity from a trap
- Poison: Is only temporarily dazed from a Snake Bite
- Paralysis: Is only temporarily paralyzed by the Ghost, who paralyzes players upon touching them
- Space: Can race in space without issue, This would provide resistances to Radiation, and Limited Cold Manipulation. It would also grant Self-Sustenance (Type 1): Being able to breathe in space without oxygen.
Feats

- Can locate and move Constellations (1142 Quettatons of TNT) (Inapplicable, See QnA)
- Can have a higher Power Stat than Morcubus, who’s implied to have caused Volcanic Eruptions for the Firefall minigame (Inapplicable, See QnA)
- Can keep up with Dr. F’s tech, which has been stated to threaten the Universe multiple, multiple, times (Universal) (Inapplicable, See QnA)

- Morcubus’ plane, as well as SkyForce members outpaced an explosion, (Mach 5.8 to Mach 23.9)
Weaknesses
The MySims don’t have any specific weaknesses, however they don’t really have any actual combat experience despite some iterations literally being Secret Agents and Fighter Pilots. They might have crazy gadgets and tools, but they rarely have used them in an actual combat scenario, meaning if faced against someone with actual fighting experience, they would immediately be at a disadvantage. For example, despite the crazy hax the Crown of Nightmares has, the MC has never used any of them.
QnA
What Does The Crown Of Nightmares Do?
We know that Morcubus was after the Crown and intended to use its powers. As for what purpose exactly, it’s actually not clear, but given the nature of what the Crown has been shown to do, as well as several people stating that Crown is Evil, it should not be in the hands of Morcubus, and that it was considered so dangerous, the scientists who helped create it wanted to destroy it. With this, we can make a few inferences about Morcubus’ goal, it’s clear he wanted to harness its power for some type of global domination, though exact specifics are still unclear.
But how exactly would it do this? What was the Crown going to do in order for Morcubus to take reign? The Crown was going to open Portals to The Nightmare Realm in order to Manifest Sim’s Nightmares into Reality. The Nightmare Realm is a realm that contains every Sim’s greatest fear. This, however, is inapplicable for AP. The Crown has a few claims of being Low-Multiversal in power, with the idea of granting complete control over the Nightmare Realm, along with it merging into the real world, however I don’t think that’s what's happening at all. If I may, I believe the idea of merging comes from the portals appearing all across the city, connecting the two. It’s closer to rifts appearing in the city acting as gates that allow access into the Nightmare Realm, rather than the two universes merging into itself. The rifts themselves are caused by the Crown of Nightmares, given that Morcubus was opening a rift himself, but this is simply Portal Creation, and can not be applied to AP.
We can compare this to, funnily enough, the Rift from Gravity Falls and its connection to their own Nightmare Realm. Their rift opening allowed a gateway between the two realms, however unlike the Gravity Falls version, the rift from MySims Agents did not threaten existence. Without a good reason to scale it to the cosmology, the Crown of Nightmares simply does not have any reason to be assigned Low-Multi, and at best, it’s a hax machine, which isn’t to undersell it because it does have some crazy good hax, but in terms of AP, it doesn’t have much itself.
Morcubus’ Volcano Bust
The line of logic by itself makes sense in a vacuum, Morcubus’ Power Stat is a lowly 1, while the player naturally has a higher Power Stat, and Morcubus’ is out here busting Volcano’s, which can net high results depending on the Volcano. However, this is a classic case of Environmental Destruction. The Power Stat pretty much implies actual physical strength, and not whatever means Morcubus used to cause the Volcano’s eruption, and there’s nothing suggesting he can punch with the same energy, and even when directly attacking the player with the Volcano’s fireballs, using the speed and mass of the actual projectile nets numbers, much, much lower, so there’s nothing actually in favor of scaling the sims to this Volcanic Eruption, especially when Morcubus doesn’t do anything else like this in the rest of the games.
The Constellation Feat
So when I first saw this minigame, I had a slight eyebrow raise when I saw there was one involving Constellations. Okay you find Constellations in the Sky, okay nothing wrong with that- oh, that’s the Constellation moving after being found, yeah okay.
In a vacuum, there isn’t anything outright wrong with this, but ultimately has a lot more going against it than for it. First thing is that this could just be a classic case of gameplay shenanigans, the Constellation moving to the center could just be to show it’s simply a match and not actually the Sim moving it themselves, meaning it wouldn’t apply to physicals, but there’s more.
Second is that in MySims Kingdom DS, essentially the exact same game can be found, but unlike the MySims Party version, after finding the Constellation, nothing happens, further suggesting that the Party version is just gameplay mechanics since it isn’t consistent in other variations of the minigame.
Lastly, it would be a massive outlier. Given the Sim’s best physical feats are around the Small Building range, jumping up to Large Star due to one minigame, would at best be an outlier. Especially given that the other MySim’s Cosmic arguments don’t hold up. Speaking of which…
Dr F’s Universal Tech
As you may have seen, Dr F’s tech has so many Universal Statements. And to be blunt, I don’t think any of them are an exaggeration. A majority of these statements are made by Alexa Lexington, Dr F’s assistant. She is genuinely intelligent, not to say Dr F isn’t, he’s just… mad. She has 3 PhDs, and each time she mentions the possibility of Dr. F’s tech threatening the Universe, she seems to be genuinely worried, and apparently it has been known to happen. So yes, I do think Dr. F’s tech is Universal…
But, scaling is a whole different issue. Yes we can take down Dr. F’s tech, such as his battle plane, but that doesn’t mean every single piece of machinery he makes is Universal. We also don’t know the exact means of its universal destruction. It could be via a chain reaction, making scaling to anyone impossible, or it could be through very specific means that wouldn’t apply to the physicals of his tech. There’s too many unknowns to reliably scale this to Dr F himself, let alone our player.
Summary
Potential Opponents
Isabelle Vs Buddy (Animal Crossing Vs MySims)
(Thumbnail by me)
Ok ok, I know this blog is for a composite MC, and originally I was gonna have it be MySim Vs Villager… but I think this is just way better. It takes what would have made MySim Vs Villager (New Resident who moves into a new home and is tasked to improve the area) and swaps it out with something that has more oomph to it.
I just made this matchup, so the connections can be expanded more, but essentially
- Both are the supportive companion to the Playable Character (Villager and MySim MC)
- Both are from LifeSim/City Building games (cmon, Animal Crossing and MySims just fit each others vibe perfectly too)
- Both act as the de facto mascots of their respective series
- Both are ultimately kind, yet clumsy, souls, and do everything that they can in order to help out the Player
Feel free to expand if you would like, but this is what it boils down to I feel. Also I think Buddy wins unless you use the Animal Crossing Manga, in which case… lol.
MySims Vs Stardew Valley
(Thumbnail by me)
Truthfully, after Isabelle Vs Buddy… I truly don’t know what other matchup we could do, so feel free to suggest any ideas. Anyways, this one’s kinda surface level, being life-sim games in an originally run down town.
MySims Vs My Time At Portia
Admittedly, I don’t know if this works, as the amount of MTAP I’ve played isn’t much, but basically similar connections to Stardew Valley. I remember having fun with Portia, but again I haven’t played it in a hot minute.
Closing Thoughts
Hi! So… Why MySims? Well… I played the original games when I was a kid, though I mainly played the DS version of the first MySims, but I did play Party and Agents on the Wii as a kid. I was brainstorming ideas for my next blog, and this one kinda came out of nowhere. I was scrolling on YouTube and found a MySims playthrough and thought: “hmmm, what if…” and well, here we are. Admittedly, I am kinda surprised by how grounded for the most part this series ending up being, I guess I was expecting a bit more, especially when I knew about the Crown of Nightmares ahead of time, but that ending up being not as impressive as people initially thought.
Also my thoughts on the MySims as a series: I think it held up okay for the most part, I bought the Cozy Bundle for myself when that came out, but I think funnily enough, I preferred the DS version in the end. I think SkyHeroes was… kinda boring? And a lot of the other DS versions of MySims weren’t as great as the console version, like Agents, but I do think the series as a whole holds up today, and I wouldn’t mind if the rest of the games got remastered like the original and Kingdom, heck I think they should make a new game tbh.
Here’s where I yap about stuff not related to the blog, and rather stuff that happened during it. That Nintendo Direct was… alright, I feel your general reception towards it depends on your taste of games. I am super excited for Danganronpa 2x2 (also you should play Hundred Line), honestly there’s a good amount of games I’m excited for coming up!
Alright, let’s wrap this up. Like other blogs, I did not list every single thing because I try to limit stuff to the relevant bits, like ermm technically the Sims have a phone but im not listing that lol, that being said there may have been like, minor stuff I missed in dialogue because to be the research for this was done via longplays at 2x speed, but I’m hoping I grabbed the good stuff.
I… have an idea of what I want my next blog to be. I’m still sticking to Character Analysis rather than Vs Blogs atm, and depending on what I uncover for what my idea of the next one will be, it will either end up a really short blog, or it will be crazy insane, but that’s the fun of these. Regardless, don’t expect the next blog to be out for a while, I don’t want to say what I'm planning next in case I end up dropping it, but it has a lot to go through. Again, the Pac-Man Blog will be updated after Re-Pac 2, that will simply be me adding to the existing blog rather than a V3, which btw, if I wanted to make a V3, I would make it composite, which… is kinda an insane undertaking, but hey it’s on the table (don’t expect this for a long time if I decide to go forward with it). Anyways, that’s all for now, Thank You for the great reception on the El Tigre blog, glad people seem to like it, and I hope this one came out half decent.
